During the school year, many children receive free and reduced-priced meals through their school meal programs. However, food insecurity becomes prevalent in families with school-aged children when the school year ends. The Summer Food Service Program helps alleviate the nutritional gap and makes meals accessible to children through age 18, no questions asked.
During July and August, Catholic Charities sponsors, with the support of the First United Presbyterian Church of Oneonta (the Red Door Church), the Summer Food Service Program, provides food to all children through age 18. Lunches are served Monday - Friday from 11:00 - 11:30 am. There are no income requirements, and no information will be collected from those served.
Volunteer opportunities exist for this program. Please see the volunteer page for more information.
